Exercise Mat

I've tried lots of mats, and this one is my top choice for affordability and functionality.  It retains its shape well and comes in several different colors/patterns.

Pilates Ball

I love all the props. But if I could only pick one, it would be the small ball.  Soft, versatile and oh so effective, it's $10 well spent. I recommend inflating the ball to 75-85 percent full.

Resistance Bands

Build stability and mobility working through your full range of motion with these resistance bands.  The 5 ft length is standard, choose a longer length if you are tall.

Dumbbells

Every home exerciser should have a few of these on hand.  I prefer this neoprene texture for comfort and grip.  Start with 3, 5, and 8 lbs. for strength.  A set of 1 or 2 lbs. is great for barre.

Magic Circle

A true Pilates classic.  The magic circle was developed by Joseph Pilates himself to enhance muscle activation and control across the body.  The 14 inch is my preferred size.

Foam Blocks

Made popular by yogis, I use the foam blocks to assist with lots of exercises.  They are also fun for balance work and to flow with.  Foam blocks are softer than cork blocks (see below).

Stability Ball

If you have space for a stability ball, get one! This is the most popular prop among my Instagram followers.  Choose 55 cm if you are under 5'4, 65 cm if you are taller. Inflate fully to use.

Foam Rollers

Confession: I own more foam rollers than any one person needs.
I narrowed it down to my top three for you to start your own collection.

Standard Density Roller

This durable roller is ideal for both self-massage and as exercise equipment.  I use it for a variety of balance and stability exercises. The upgraded material outperforms old school rollers.

Super Soft Roller

If you're new to foam rolling or have sensitive tissues, this is the perfect starter roller.  It offers the support of a standard roller, but with a much softer touch.  I use mine often for Pilates.

Soft Roller: Short

Short on space? This 18-inches roller measures half the length of the rollers with the same 6-inches diameter.  It's slightly softer than standard density and just as versatile.

Bosu Balance Trainer

The Bosu is a time-tested piece of equipment that is as useful in Pilates as it is in HIIT, strength, and cardio workouts.  Did you know that it stands for both sides utilized?
